Sunset, Golden Hour & Secret Beaches - SMALL GROUP/PUBLIC TOUR

THE LAS CATALINAS ISLANDS ARE NOT JUST FOR SCUBA DIVERS! This is one of the best snorkeling spots in the area! On this 1/2 day (4-5-hour) private snorkeling tour, you will enjoy 1-3 snorkeling stops (depending on conditions and interest in staying in a spot versus trying another) in the Catalinas / North Island area. Enjoy the underwater world of colorful fish, rays, sharks, turtles, and more. Although we never know what we will see, it is rarely disappointing! We will load the boat from Potrero and then after about a 40-minute ride, we will arrive the Las Catalinas and North Island area. The captain will select a good starting spot based on tides and conditions, and then it will be up to you how long we stay in that spot versus try another. You will have the choice snorkeling on your own, or going with our professional snorkel guide (one of the best int the area!) We will have snacks, fresh fruit and cold drinks on board. (No alcohol.) On the return ride to Potrero Bay, we will watch for whales (seasonal) and dolphins.Please note that this is a tour specifically and primarily for snorkeling. It is recommended that participants be competent/confident swimmers and be comfortable in ocean conditions. This is not a dangerous or scary tour by any means, but people who are new to the ocean or not confident in their swimming abilities may enjoy themselves more on one of our other tours. If you are interested in snorkeling and/or "secret beaches" and/or coast exploring, etc., our Mid-Day "Snorkeling and Secret beaches" tour or early morning "Coffee & Coasting" are probably a better fit. Please also note that although the intent of this tour is to go to Las Catalinas Islands, there is not a guarantee that we will be able to go there. If the captain determines the conditions are not right, we will find another snorkeling spot (e.g. Brummel Islands, Playa Minas) that also have good snorkeling. (Best odds for being able to go Las Catalinas is May - August.) This tour is scheduled to depart at 7am and return at approximately 11:30am. This tour is great for all ages and interests. You can choose to be as active (snorkeling, swimming, going ashore) or leisurely (just sitting and watching the world float by) as you desire. We will depart Potrero Bay, and tour the coast, heading either to the south passing the beautiful white beaches of Playa Conchal to arrive at Playa Minas; or we may head north, passing Playas Penca, Prienta and Danta to Playa L’Amour (also known as Honeymoon Beach, only accessible by boat!).  Enjoy the beautiful scenery while the Captain keeps an eye out for turtles, dolphins, rays, sea birds, and seasonal wildlife such as humpback whales and leaping spotted rays. This tour is great for all ages and interests. You choose where we go (conditions permitting), how long we spend in each spot, and how active (snorkeling, swimming, going ashore, maybe even doing some tow tubing?) or leisurely (just sitting and watching the world float by) you wish to be. Looking to add some new birds to your Merlin life list? We'll help you look for them! Prefer the scenery to being in the water? We can accommodate that! As a suggested itinerary, we will depart Potrero Bay, and tour the coast, heading first to the south to the white shell beaches of Playa Conchal (usually accessible only by dining or staying at the properties there, or via a 30 min. unshaded walk). This is one of the beaches you see on postcards. Then heading back north past Playa Flamingo, Playas Penca & Prieta, Las Catalinas, and more beautiful coastline, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while the Captain keeps an eye out for turtles, dolphins, sea birds, and seasonal wildlife (humpback whales July - Oct, Manta Rays Dec - Mar, . We will visit what many consider to be one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Costa Rica (Playa L’Amour - accessible only by boat). At Playa L’Amour, you will have the option to go ashore (conditions permitting), swim, snorkel, or stay on the boat and enjoy the scenery and some of the most beautiful water you will ever see.There you can snorkel in crystal clear water, go ashore and explore, or just float in the water, or stretch out in the shade on the boat and leave the exploring to others! We time our visit to be there when the large “party cats” are not there, ensuring a more peaceful and private experience. We will serve a light lunch aboard the boat before returning to Potrero Bay.Want to add a little adrenaline to your tour? ·Add the inflatable package to your private tour (select at check out), and everyone in your party who is interested gets at least two 10-minute tubing sessions (sometimes more, depending on size of party).
